Born to an Irish Catholic family in Millbrook, NY, I am the second of 8 children. I grew up a drummer in a rock band and in my early twenties pursued a career in the hospitality business where I became a Food & Beverage Director for some of the most prestigious properties on the east coast. I climbed the ladder of success rather quickly, as I was blessed with great teachers and mentors along the way. While climbing the ladder of success I was continually spiraling down hill with my alcoholism and drug addiction. After 46 years of life, seven rehabs, time in jail and several car wrecks, I was deep in the dark whole of hopelessness. I lied in my bunk at rehab number 7 and thought: "What if I died tomorrow. What could someone put on my tombstone that was a credit to my life?" Not being able to come up with anything, I reached out to God for help. I knew that I had to change everything about me, including my career. God came. I made commitment to God that night that I would spend my remaining years helping his people with hurting souls. It was from that day on I started on a brand new journey to become the man that God created me to be.When I was baptized in the year 2000, the pastor lifted my head out of the water and told me that the old Tim Murphy was dead at the bottom of the lake and I was a new person in Jesus Christ. I said "Praise God", walked to the shore of the lake and never looked back.Today I'm the Clinical Supervisor for Cornerstone Treatment Facilities Network, in Rhinebeck, NY, more happily married than I ever thought possible, integrated in a great Christian Church, a student of the Bible and a man who literally loves life and all the blessings that Our Father in heaven has given to me.
