Littered with historical detail this starts in Baltimore in West Cork, Ireland and moves to the Mediterranean through several bouts of slavery and various survival that seems to be subordinate to the historical details. Interesting but doesn't really make me want to read the rest in the series.

enjoyed the book but however felt gaps in the plotline from the journey from Aachen to Baghdad though but following forward to the next one in the saxon series

Well, being a fan of all things Viking I had high hopes. In between the Saxon books from Cornwell it did well enough to pass the time but it certainly doesn't measure up to that series. Worth checking out if you like Vikings.
