Mistakes Were Made is not the sort of book I'd normally pay much attention to. I'm not a huge fan of children's lit and this one looked a bit too juvenile for me (not that I'm not very childish at heart). I picked up this novel for one reason: Tom McCarthy, genius behind such movie gems as The Stati...

This was a cute book. And hilarious. I was less than impressed by the plot, which was silly at best, but the character of Timmy Failure made up for it. I do believe that once my boys are around 8 or 9, they'll love this book, provided that, by that time, they like to read at all. Fingers crossed...

After readying so many intense books, this looked like a book along the lines of Wimpy Kid. And I liked Wimpy Kid. And I liked Timmy Failure too. The drawings really added to the book, and were worthy of a chuckle or too. This book was a quick read, which I really enjoyed. Nice good light reading...

This has 26 holds at our library, and I wanted to see if it was a good suggestion for Wimpy Kid lovers. It sort of is. The art is great, and I suspect the title and cover are a big reason for the high holds. It's definitely the style of Wimpy Kid, with the characters being possibly closer to upper-e...

The thing I like best about Timmy Failure is that in nearly every illustration he stares straight out at the reader with the intensity of a maniac. If the book is ever adapted into a movie I hope the child playing Timmy spends the entire movie staring straight at the camera regardless of what is hap...

An entertaining start to a series that will likely have a large, enthusiastic following, especially fans of the Wimpy Kid books.

I finally finished this mostly on the plane to Salt Lake City today (the rest in the hotel room). My first impression when I initially picked it up a while back was that it made me chuckle. A book is worthwhile if it makes one chuckle. I didn't laugh out loud, and my cheeks didn't hurt. I chuckled. ...

What is there to like? ▪ This book genuinely made me laugh. Not like “oh, yes indeed I suppose that was rawther funny, hrm hrm” but actual laughs. I think this comes from Pastis’s professionalism as a cartoonist—his artwork is spare, but effective, and the artwork is the punchline to the funniest jo...

I read through this quickly. It's intended for a pretty young audience. It was cute, as an adult I felt frustrated by the mother's attitude and very sorry for the "evil one". I keep trying to imagine what it would be like to read this as a kid and I'm not sure that the protagonist is all that likabl...
