While I've recently transitioned to a regulatory position with the federal government, for 14 years I was a faculty member in academic medicine. While there, I saw both the best of contemporary medicine and the worst of it. I enjoy writing about research ethics and women's issues in healthcare, particularly the inclusion of women in research. But I quickly learned that in order to be really productive, I was going to have to write about the things that were taking up the bulk of my time: educating health professions students, and the ethical issues that face us in contemporary healthcare. The book that Micah and I edited is one foray into that world, and we hope it's an accessible and useful one.
