Todd's first novel, INSIDE MOVES, was published in 1978 by Doubleday and made into a motion picture starring John Savage and David Morse. INSIDE MOVES was re-issued by Pharos Editions in 2013 with an introduction by Sherman Alexie who calls INSIDE MOVES "the best novel about basketball ever written." An accomplished essayist, Todd's 2017 collection of personal essays SOURCES OF WONDER is available exclusively from Todd's web site Under the Table Books, as are his seven newest novels: Ida's Place (Books One through Four), Calliope of Hope, Magenta, and Oasis Tales of the Conjuror. Todd's beloved collection of contemporary Buddhist parables, BUDDHA IN A TEACUP was published in an elegant paperback edition by Soft Skull Press in February 2016. Todd's second novel, FORGOTTEN IMPULSES, was published in 1980 by Simon and Schuster and chosen by The New York Times as a notable novel of that year. LOUIE & WOMEN was published by Dutton in 1983, NIGHT TRAIN was published by Mercury House in 1986, and RUBY & SPEAR was published by Bantam in 1996. UNDER THE TABLE BOOKS appeared in 2009. His non-fiction work OPEN BODY: CREATING YOUR OWN YOGA was published by Avon in 1998. 10-Speed published THE WRITER'S PATH, a book of Todd's original writing exercises, in 2000. In addition to writing, Todd is a professional musician and has produced five albums of solo piano music and two albums of songs with his wife, the cellist Marcia Sloane.
