Tom Merritt is the host of Daily Tech News Show, Sword and Laser, Cordkillers, Current Geek, and several other podcasts and Internet-based shows. He has worked as tech journalist for 15 years. He has published two novels and one history. Tom lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two dogs and several spiders and sometimes a possum or a cat that lives under the house. Tom began writing his first book, Boiling Point, while interning at National Public Radio in 1993. He was fascinated by the recent breakup of the Soviet Union and had just read Joel Garreau's "Nine Nations of North America."Tom wrote United Moon Colonies as part of National Novel Writing Month in 2006. He had not yet read "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" so was unaware how much he ripped off from Heinlein. Others have told him to consider it a sequel in homage. Tom thinks that's downright pretentious.Chronology of Tech History arose out of a failed attempt to do a daily podcast about tech history. He was left with all this research so decided to do a book.Tom hopes to stop referring to himself in the third person someday and to write a book someday he feels confident enough recommending other people read.
