Forbidden Island, his novel, was published in 2007. His book, Reflections of South Carolina, is in its third printing. The University of South Carolina Press released Save The Last Dance For Me, how the blues became beach music and the shag phenomenon, in August 2012.He and his longtime co-author, photographer Robert Clark, will have their fourth photo-essay book, South Carolina, Portraits of a Homeland, released in 2013 by the University of South Carolina Press. Poland's columns "Across The Savannah" and "Our Changing Times" are about a changing South. They appear in journals and publications in Georgia and South Carolina.His essay "For The Birds" appears in State of the Heart: South Carolina Writers on the Places They Love, a collection of essays to be published in the spring of 2012 by the University of South Carolina Press with a foreword by Pat Conroy.Swamp Gravy, the community theater in Colquitt, Georgia, that is home to Georgia's Folk Life Drama, produced "Solid Ground," his play, in October 2011 and March 2012.A Southern writer, author, and Lincolnton, Georgia native, he lives in Columbia, South Carolina.
