Tom Sawyers Abenteuer und Streiche (The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer) ist ein 1876 erschienener Roman des amerikanischen Schriftstellers Mark Twain.Das Buch zählt zu den Klassikern der Jugendbuch-Literatur. Es wird, für die Zeit ungewöhnlich, in der damals gängigen Alltagssprache erzählt, womit der Autor ein Gegenkonzept zu den damals üblichen Kinderbüchern über Musterknaben und brave Mädchen entwarf. Bisweilen wird das Buch, wie auch der Nachfolger „Huckleberry Finns Abenteuer“, als rassistisch bezeichnet, weil Schwarze durchweg „Nigger“ genannt werden. Das war jedoch die zu der Zeit gängige Sprachpraxis. Die Darstellung der Schwarzen, mit denselben Gefühlen und Wünschen wie die Weißen, ist für die Zeit emanzipatorisch.
