I wrote my first book, "Easy Target: The Long Strange Trip of a Scout Pilot in Vietnam," to see if I could. I didn't have much else to do at the time, and the though of writing about my experiences in combat appealed to me on a number of levels. It was a lot more work than I expected, but turned out to be more rewarding than I could have imagined. My second book, "Facing PTSD: A Combat Veteran Learns to Live With the Disorder," was different. I wrote it because I felt I had to.Tom Smith
