Welcome to my author page. If you're into supernatural fiction and/or dark fantasy, then you have definitely come to the right place. But in recent years, I've started writing crime fiction as well. And then there is my work that crosses over genre boundaries ... mystery tales set a few decades ahead, for instance ('The Electric Shaman').I started trying to write professionally during my final year at college, sold my first story a couple of months after graduating, and have been finding publishers for my imaginary tales ever since. My debut novel -- 'The Harvest Bride' -- made the shortlist for the HWA Award for Best First Novel, and my third collection, 'Going Back' (there have been 7 published so far) was a finalist for the British Fantasy Award. Novels of mine have appeared from Headline Books, Telos, and Pan Macmillan in the UK, and from Tor, Samhain, Schusters, and Eos/HarperCollins in the States. And there's more to come ... later this year, CD Publications will be bringing out my second straightforward detective novel, 'The Tribe.'But I've also taken advantage of Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing and Createspace programs to bring out eBooks and paperbacks by myself. It was mostly reprints of my earlier work when I first started out, but I have recently been using these systems to publish brand-new fiction ... my latest paranormal novel, 'Hidden,' for instance, and 'Deadly Violet,' 'Speak of the Devil,' and 'Witch Hunter,' the three most recent books in my Raine's Landing supernatural thriller series. Dealing with traditional publishers can be frustrating sometimes (no huge surprise there) and I have easily enough experience to turn out some good-looking, well-formatted books, and so I see myself going much further down that route in coming years. You'll find my list of eBooks is a pretty lengthy one, and growing every year. There are some half a dozen novels from regular publishers. There are stories that first saw print in publications like Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. I've put together some collections of my shorter work as well ('Classic Pan and Fontana Horror' is especially popular in the UK). And like I said, there are a few original novels thrown in for good measure.Something for most anyone who likes their fiction dark and with a twist. And I have taken care to keep the prices of my self-published eBooks as low as makes sense ... I want you to read my work, not make my taxman and accountant rich. Why should anybody have to break the bank simply to discover some new fiction?
