This was a solid collection of stories. I enjoyed them all, with one rather shocking exception which I am afraid that I will go on at length about in a bit. None of them became instant favorites, but I am glad I read them. As is par for the course with Tamora Pierce, there is a preponderance of st...

I love Tamora Pierce, as I've mentioned numerous times before. The Tortall series is one of my absolute favorites, even though I haven't read the Beka Cooper series yet (it's on the list!) This is a collection of stories, most based in Tortall and its surrounding countries. Almost all had Tamora P...

I'm a fan of Tamora Pierce's young adult fantasies, which I discovered as an adult after a friend who loved her books from childhood was horrified when I asked her Tamora who? She can fall into a preachy political correctness, which can be seen from time to time in these shorts, but she also writes ...

Though I absolutely adore Tamora Pierce, and her Lioness books (actually, all her books) defined my childhood, I was less thrilled with this short story collection. I enjoyed it, yes. Newcomers to her work would not do well to start here, as most of the stories require knowledge of not only her worl...

A collection of short stories, some set in Tortall (mostly covering new ground and new characters although in one of my favorites we get to know Daine's dragon Kitten much better), some in slightly different fantasy settings, or even in our own, non-magical world. Some of the stories are simply bril...

I read the Lioness and Immortal Series when I was younger, so it was a treat to read this book and go back to that world. Tamora Pierce's writing has always hooked me with her strong female leads. I wasn't crazy about Huntress and Testing - Testing was a good story, but I sort of felt like both stor...

If you're new to Tortall, this book contains huge spoilers for the Immortals series and the Trickster duology, so you probably want to read those first. Tortall veterans, though, should love this book. It continues the stories of some familiar characters and creatures, and introduces others for the ...

A collection of stories, none of them awful, none of them particularly wonderful. A few months later, the only story I can remember is of a girl who trains herself to fight like the animals she sees around her, and eventually uses this unexpected prowess to defend her older sister's honor.

Tamora Pierce is one of my favourite authors. When I heard she had a book of short stories being released, I jumped at the chance to read them, especially because so many of them were set in her fabulous Tortall world. I loved getting glimpses of characters I know and miss so much, particularly Aly ...

I always think I cannot love Tamora Pierce anymore but then she surprises me again and again. This book is a must have if you are a Tamora Pierce fan. Even so, I think these stories may be less clear if you have never read anything by Pierce before. These stories are wonderful. They are vivid and w...
