I suppose one can expect a memoir to be thoroughly self-absorbed. What I regret is that Ms. Sunee seems to have grown not one bit from start to finish.
The descriptions of food are what make this book a success. The circumstances are unusual and the author is a bit self-indulgent (poor girl, married to a millionaire industrialist and living in the French countryside), but overall I did enjoy it.
