Trevor Lipscombe obtained a degree in theoretical physics from London University before going on to earn his doctorate in physics at Oxford. He has taught at Oxford, the City University of New York, and the Johns Hopkins University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and has published widely in physics research journals as well as journals devoted to physics teaching. Over the years he has taken part in many activities to help bring physics to a wide audience, including such events as an edible-car contest and a mass experiment to see if toast lands butter-side down. In addition to attracting local politicians and the media, these events brought simple science to hundreds of children. With Alice Calaprice he co-wrote "Albert Einstein: A Biography", which was published by Greenwood in 2005. His latest book,"The Physics of Rugby", was published by Nottingham University Press in 2009.
