So I picked up a bunch of Batman freebies. I'm not a huge Bats fan. I really only read him when Catwoman shows up because she's awesome. So - DCeased is basically the DC universe vs. zombies. It's an interesting idea but I didn't find it particularly "must know what happened next". The Bat...
I think that the problem is this was handed to writers that either aren't that great or aren't that invested in this. Notable as the first comic book appearance of Harley Quinn but barely worth watching even for that.
And I could have sworn that I'd reviewed it already. I know I did on Litsy, but... Well, I took it out of the library and have already returned it. That being said, it was a single issue, which I hadn't expected. I'd just reserved everything with Deadshot in it, without taking too close a loo...
I can't explain why this didn't work for me. I guess it didn't feel as dynamic as most ST graphic novels, but it was all in character, with a story that made sense in the ST universe. Good art, good writing, just didn't really grip me.
While this comic book works better in color (Seriously, there's a two-parter based around a color-based villain, so reading it in black and white is a little ridiculous :) ) this collection is a great introduction to one of the more unique superheroes in DC's stable. He's faliable, self-centered and...
The second volume of Batman: Black & White is much like the first. Editor Mark Chiarello gathers together some of the most acclaimed writers and artists who then produce short stories about The Dark Knight. While I didn’t find the overall experience as strong as the first collection, there were st...
It's an anthology, so of course it's a mixed bag, both from an art and story perspective. There are some really outstanding stories here. Paul Dini's "Case Study", the first story in the collection, is a nice and perceptive look at Joker's psychology, painting him as someone completely sane, possibl...
A decently funny book, but definitely had a for kids feel to me. If you like Spider-Man and I'll assume especially the new show (which I don't watch) you'll probably get more out of it than I did. Still, an enjoyable read that only really falls flat when you can tell it's trying too hard.
