Ulf has recently been appointed as Assistant Professor of Strategy at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China to teach Strategic Management and Corporate Strategy. He received a Doctorate in Economic Sciences from the HEC Lausanne, Switzerland, for his thesis on corporate responsibility in a globalizing world, and an MBA from the European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel in Germany. He is also an Executive in Residence with the Social Innovation Centre at INSEAD.In his research, he concentrates on the multifaceted links between corporate strategy, innovation, responsibility, sustainability, and governance in times of globalization, and sustainable investment in emerging economies.Previously, he taught undergraduate and graduate courses on business strategy, international management, international marketing, global economy, global governance, and business ethics in three continents in English, French and Spanish. His previous appointments include Portland State University in Oregon, USA, Centrum Católica, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and the International University of Grand Bassam, the Centre de Recherche et d'Action pour la Paix, and the Ecole de Commerce et Gestion in Côte d'Ivoire. In 2007, he was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University.Ulf has worked with multinational companies, international organizations, universities, NGOs and government. As an active entrepreneur he has founded companies in Switzerland, Peru, Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire, focusing on human-centered project development and out of the box thinking for a sustainable future. His projects range from ecologically friendly product innovation in the Peruvian textile sector to an integrated waste management for the District of Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire. He also co-founded an NGO in German which is focusing on promoting higher education in developing countries to develop leaders for the future of the African continent. In 2011, his team won the Technoserve/World Bank Business Plan Competition in Côte d'Ivoire and the 3rd prize in the Orange African Social Venture Competition with his e-commerce project for African art and design. Occasionally, he works as a management and leadership trainer at executive level with multinational companies such as Nestle and Tata Steel.Currently, he serves as delegate of the Ivorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote sustainable investment into Côte d'Ivoire. He strongly believes in the future of Africa as the back bone of worldwide wealth production in the 21st century.Ulf was born in Cologne, Germany, and he loves the sea. He has 20 years of sailing experience in 20+ countries on three continents.
