This seemed rather ho-hum, especially when compared to the time-travel books. Some funny parts, but generally not worth it.
Not my favorite but Connie Willis on an off day beats the heck out of a lot of authors at their best. One of the most romantic books ever! I love this story, and when I saw the cover pop up on a different search I couldn't resist adding it.
It was weird but entertaining.
Another light but excellently told SF tale by Willis. A couple of crusty surveyors and a native are working to map a new planet. Things are not all as they seem, however. The native is constantly fining the off-worlders for the degradation to the planet. The off-world survey might harbor an ulterior...
