I remembering wondering, when this series came out, why it wasn’t getting the media buzz of Mallory’s previous “Sweet” series. (And later, the “Fools Gold” series.) Perhaps it’s because it doesn’t have a cute hook, like a family bakery or an all-female small town: in fact, the premise is rather off...
3.5*s - This was my first Susan Mallery and I really enjoyed her writing. I liked Lexi and her sisters (including best friend Dana) and loved all their interactions. I even liked Cruz, he had some flaws certainly as a father, but I thought that made him a touch more realistic. As realistic as a h...
Not a bad story. I liked the sisters. I'm not sure I liked Lexi. She really had a lot of TSTL moments. I'm not sure why she even fell for Cruz since he was a jerk to her through most of the book. Their HEA was sweet though. I'll pick up the next one since I'd like to see what happens to the hal...
Even though it's hard to feel bad for the daughter(s) of a rich guy, I still felt for Lexi. I applauded her drive to prove herself, even if it was originally to just "win" her father's praise. I thought Cruz's drive to "get into society" was kinda dumb, but after how he grew up and how successful he...
Just too silly for me to engage with the characters at all. The absurd plot is played out by cliched characters spouting unnatural-sounding dialog.Maybe I'll finish it some day when I'm in the mood for a Silhouette Desire-style read.
The plot was okay and the action moved right along but I didn't like the hero and he irritated me throughout the story. Spa owner Lexi needs two million dollars and Cruz will provide it in exchange for fake engagement with introductions.
It was a good read. Not great only because I really don't think that I liked Cruz all that much. He had some major issues, and I felt that they weren't really resolved in the end. The conclusion sort of glossed over his instabilities. Not extremely realistic, as I can't imagine any woman (that h...
I didn't like this story at all. Cruz Rodriguez is a social-climbing asshole whose only using Lexi to get into her circle of friends. Poor Lexi was devastated after their one-night stand ten years previously and reluctantly agreed to his scheme because she desperately needed the money offered. He...
Normally I’m quite good when reading a series but I couldn’t get my hands on the first two books so I read the third book first, Straight from the Hip back in March then read the fourth book Hot On Her Heels afterwards and I finally managed to get hold of the first and second book a while ago but ju...
