Viviane Schwarz is a children's book artist and illustrator.She is best known for her funny, boldly coloured lift-the-flap books, both of which were shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway medal ("There are Cats in this Book" and "There are NO Cats in this Book").In 2011 she received a Booktrust Best New Illustrators Award.She writes most of her own books, but has also illustrated two books written by friend and collaborator Alexis Deacon.Viviane was born in Germany, studied illustration in Cornwall and has been living and working in London since 2003.Her books aim to encourage creativity in young readers and usually include interactive and comic elements.Recent publications include "Welcome to your Awesome Robot", a manual for creating a cardboard robot costume and "The Sleepwalkers", a 94 page graphic novel about overcoming nightmares.
