I was really enjoying this young adult ghost story until we got to the ending. I wish Hahn had gone a different route, or at least made it that things were not wrapped up so smoothly. Then again maybe I'm a blood thirsty reader who wanted some murder and mayhem to occur. Told in the first person,...

I've read a lot basically my whole life. Some books stick with you for a while. Some stick with you for years. And some, some stick with you forever. I think Wait Till Helen Comes will be one of my "forever" books. This, along with The Dollhouse Murders and Behind the Attic Wall, are stories I not...

My god, another book filled with annoying characters. Heather and Dave (and eventually the Mom too) were all so annoying and in case of Dave and Mom so stupid and didn't want to look further than the obvious thing is that Michael and Molly are fault at everything. And Heather, well that was some sic...

I'm on a nostalgia kick this morning, finding all these books I loved as a kid. I was really into ghosts when I was in elementary school, and this was one of my favorite books. I can still remember the entire plot!

You can understand why Hahn is popular with kids. Based on the two books I've read so far, she has a pretty reliable formula, and she knows how to use it. There's an old house, a new blended family with conflict, and a ghost. Creepy, but not too creepy. A quick read.Library copy.

Wait Till Helen Comes is a well-written tale, however, I just could not stand the characters. Two characters in particular were absolutely intolerable: Heather and her father. Heather is an obnoxious little shit of a child and good birth control, quite frankly. The only thing I wanted to happen in t...

Captain Evan Loehr is a straight arrow West Point graduate and does everything by the book, and doesn't have time for pleasure. He's got some baggage from his youth that seems to be the driving force behind his current identity. Captain Claire Montoya earned her rank the hard way, first enlisting ...

The defining Mary Downing Hahn book. She's capable of writing straight-forward contemporary and historical (for the kiddies anyway) dramas and coming-of-age stories, but her ghost stories are what really bring people in. I loved those books, but looking back I know I got a lot more out of authors li...

I read this when I was a kid, so the star rating reflects that.
