WALT SHIEL started school on Guam during the Korean War, graduated from high school in France during the Vietnam War, and has had four distinct careers: Air Force pilot, telecommunications engineer, defense industry engineer, and full-time writer. As an engineer, he worked on the B-2, F-22, F-35, and F-16 aircraft programs.Walt has been writing professionally since 1992 and has written military aviation history books, historical novels, eclectic short stories, dozens of published magazine articles, and two monthly aviation columns.Walt is a graduate of Michigan State University. He has lived in 12 of the 50 states, in France, and on the island of Guam. Walt and his child bride, with two daughters and two grandchildren, have been happily married since 1968 and now live on 40 acres in the back woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula with their dogs, cats, and horses, surrounded by deer, wolves, bears, and a plethora of smaller critters.Diagnosed in September 2013 with prostate cancer, Walt is now in remission and has signed on as a Champion for ZERO-The End of Prostate Cancer and a Mentor Angel with Imerman Angels to help other men with this disease.
