An eBook short. What does “feminism” mean today? That is the question at the heart of We Should All Be Feminists, a personal, eloquently-argued essay—adapted from her much-viewed Tedx talk of the same name—by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the award-winning author of Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun. With humor and levity, here Adichie offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century—one rooted in inclusion and awareness. She shines a light not only on blatant discrimination, but also the more insidious, institutional behaviors that marginalize women around the world, in order to help readers of all walks of life better understand the often masked realities of sexual politics. Throughout, she draws extensively on her own experiences—in the U.S., in her native Nigeria, and abroad—offering an artfully nuanced explanation of why the gender divide is harmful for women and men, alike. Argued in the same observant, witty and clever prose that has made Adichie a bestselling novelist, here is one remarkable author’s exploration of what it means to be a woman today—and an of-the-moment rallying cry for why we should all be feminists.

5.0 Feminism is the New F Word
Wow. What a good time for me to read this. Because right now in our country we are doing the most to "other" women. That somehow women are less than at all times. There are more women in the world, yet how many women are CEOs of fortune 500 countries? How many women are current leaders in government...

3.5 starsThis is definitely worth reading. It draws attention to certain things. The author is from Africa and a lot of what it is about is there. Reading it and letting it soak in as a good way to make a conscious effort going forward. I think this is at least as much for a man to read as a wom...

Oh damn. I want to buy this in bulk and distribute it to everyone I meet. If I can find a way to get this in bulk so it's affordable, I might do that and just leave them around places with sticky notes asking people to take it.This was so...There's a word, but I can't quite get it. "Relatable" isn't...

InspiringI have in the past struggled with the word feminist, struggled with identifying myself as one. It is a dirty word to much of the world. It means man-hater, lesbian, b!*¢#. Yet to be a feminist is none of those things, it simply means someone who fights for equality for both genders. Adichie...

Honestly, this is a powerful piece that was a TED talk. The introduction is wonderful, especially with the use of what one can be. While focusing on mostly personal experience, Adichie covers the why of feminism and why every one should embrace. Hard to disagree with this powerful piece of writing.
