Talk about unlucky sevens. An hour ago, seventeen-year-old, seven months pregnant Novalee Nation was heading for California with her boyfriend. Now she finds herself stranded at a Wal-Mart in Sequoyah, Oklahoma, with just $7.77 in change. But Novalee is about to discover hidden treasures in this small Southwest town--a group of down-to-earth, deeply caring people willing to help a homeless, jobless girl living secretly in a Wal-Mart. From Bible-thumping blue-haired Sister Thelma Husband to eccentric librarian Forney Hull who loves Novalee more than she loves herself, they are about to take her--and you, too--on a moving, funny, and unforgettable journey to . . . Where the Heart Is.

I just finally got around to reading it now and am glad that I did. This book was as good, if not better, than the movie. This heartwa...
I love Billie Letts, I love this book and I love all the crazy characters in it. I've actually read this twice. I read it once when it came out and then a couple years later before I watched the movie. It's just a great heartwarming story and I would definitely recommend it!
I should start by stating that Where the Heart Is is one of my all time favorite movies. For a while a few years ago, my family and I were watching it about once a month. Although the book contained additional scenes and characters not in the movie, I think I still prefer the movie. It wasn't a b...
