This was just a ton of fun. Ibbotson is like a tamer Roald Dahl, with a twist of Monty Python. The part about the rats, though? That was pure Stephen King. *shudder*
Not Eva Ibbotson's best, but it's still Eva Ibbotson; she can do no wrong.
This is a unique and humorous story about a group of witches competing for the marriage of a wizard. Like Ibbotson's other books, this story has a funny, charming tone and good characters. It's not my favorite book of all time, but I do recommend it.
