A colouring book with a dark side

In The Wicked Plants Colouring Book, Amy Stewart and artist Briony Morrow-Cribbs bring colouring enthusiasts the 40 most menacing botanical atrocities from their New York Times bestseller Wicked Plants. Morrow-Cribbs’s exquisite etchings are now finely rendered colouring-book art and are paired with details from the original book.

Drawing on history, medicine, science, and legend, and written with Stewart’s trademark wit, each wonderfully creepy spread offers a fascinating portrait of the evildoers of the plant world, from the vine that ate the South (kudzu) to the weed that killed Lincoln’s mother (white snakeroot) to the world’s deadliest seed (rosary pea).

It's a list with descriptions of poisonous plants around the world with a few stories strawn in for good measure. There are drawings of some of the plants. I had to deduct one star because there are no color photos.

Very informative. I learned quite a bit and new knowledge is always welcome. I would have given four stars but some of the art work seemed detrimental to the overall work.

2.0 Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln's Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities
I found this kind of repetitive and... well, frankly, a little boring. I wanted more stories about real people, on the order of the Lincoln's mom story. There were lots of little informative bits, but not as many anecdotes as I thought I'd be getting. I was also a little skeptical of some of the inf...
