Wow, this book has more polarized reviews (so many one-star "I hated this book" reviews!) than most. I love the review that says that Beatrice, the main character, "commits multiple acts of murder, participates in very creepy incest, and betrays people who love her" and "has no redeeming qualities"....
EDIT: NOVIEMBRE 20144RESEÑA ORIGINAL: septiembre 20132La novela tiene los personajes más desagradables que se puedan imaginar .Nadie , absolutamente nadie que participe zafa . Nadie . Fue muy dificil de terminar .
It's been six years since I read Wideacre and while writing this review I'm pretty shocked to find that I'm still angry. I have never hated a character more than I hated Beatrice Lacey. If I could have written myself into this book I would have shown up just about half way through with a shotgun and...
Insane! First chapters are a well written but difficult read. I battled to get into the book. I dont know why exactly. Had to constantly remind myself in what era this was. It was hard and raw and unforgiving and a survival of the fittest era. The past was not always romance and roses and courting a...
I didn't even finish this. Got 52 pages in and found out that the main character sleeps with her brother for most of the book. No, thank you.
On one hand I found myself despising Beatrice for everything she did, and she made me so angry with her narcissism - constantly referring to herself as beautiful and talking about her 'lovely body'. But as the book progressed, I started to almost feel sorry for her. The way she felt she had to do al...
Holy cow, I absolutely hated this book. Like, HATED. I still have such a visceral reaction to hit. Incest - not really my thing. I can't believe that I finished it OR that I read the sequel. I think I just had to see if there was any single redeeming thing in this series. Nope. Really, I don'...
Twisted.
One of PG's earliest novels, this one was a novel that I did not like at all. Beatrice Lacey, the heroine, is utterly without morals or discretion in striving to keep her home, Wideacre, in her own hands. For that, she will lie, murder, steal and betray, and if she breaks social taboos, so be it. Wh...
Twisted! (Deliciously so.) Total summer trashy fun, if you don't mind really raunchy sex and a despicable anti-heroine.
