Frank and Jess had set up the business because they needed money - their pocket-money had been stopped just when Frank owed Buster Knell ten pence. Their father had put a quick stop to ERRANDS RUN, so why not try something that was bad instead? Offering to do dreadful things that other people didn't dare to do? So they pinned up the notice on the potting-shed and waited for customers. But of course, nothing's ever THAT straightforward.

When I was on my spree of reading Jones' books in the year or so after she died, I remember seeing 'Witch's Business' on the shelf at the library and avoiding it. It has such an ugly cover, and the title is stupid. Now, having picked it up at a book sale for 25¢, I find that this was her first child...
This one definitely read younger. I mean, technically I think most of DWJ’s books are in the MG/YA category, but this one felt like it was meant to be there. I’ve found myself enjoying her older books more recently, with the exception of Chrestomanci. This one is also a little more “magicky” than us...
