Willard M. Oliver is a Professor of Criminal Justice in the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX). He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Criminal Justice from Radford University (Radford, VA)and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from West Virginia University (Morgantown, WV). He is a former police officer and a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserves, Military Police Corps. He has taught Criminal Justice for 20 years. His areas of research and publications are Policing, Public Policy of Crime, and History. While he enjoys reading and writing, he also enjoys running marathons (nine finisher's medals to date).
