William C. Rice was born on a very cold evening during the winter of 1937 and brought home to his northern California lumber town, company owned house. His father moved the family there so the new dad could work as a lumber jack and mill worker, this only after giving up on becoming a singer in the movies and a quite promising career as a professional boxer. His father later became a long-haul truck driver, a service station owner and a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman. William's mother was a stay-at-home mom. William C. Rice holds a Ph.D. from Brigham Young University. He is a retired marriage, family, child and individual psychotherapist. He was the Founder and Director of the Center for Counseling Therapy in Fresno, California, He holds the rank of Professor Emeritus (Ret.) at the California State University in Fresno. For ten years Dr. Rice regularly (1972-1983) appeared as "The Family Therapist" on ABC's local affiliate's morning show in Fresno and for another ten years hosted his own "Open Forum Family Therapy" PBS affiliate program (1983-1993) in Fresno. He is the author of "Notes from Happily Ever After"; Vantage Press.1986, and "The Development and Expression of Interpersonal Emotion"; Kendal Hunt Pub. NY, NY 1974.His passions include writing, his wife and family of two girls and two boys, (their marriage partners,) and thirteen grandchildren, building things and spending as much time in the northern California mountains as possible.
