William N. Ridgeway is an independent scholar and translator of Japanese literature. He received a B.A. in Japanese from UCLA, an M.A. in Asian Studies from Sophia University (Tokyo), and Ph.D. in Modern Japanese Literature from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Areas of interest are the novels of Natsume Sôseki (1867-1916). He is currently translating Natsume Sôseki's novel Gubinjinsô, his longest and most difficult work. This may take a while.
