Confession time: I picked up this book expecting it to be bad. But, you know, one of those enjoyable bad books that people love to snark at. I WAS WRONG. IT WAS AWESOME. Despite a cover that looks like it’s going to be all about a sad witchy girl finding love in the middle of winter and ignoring...

“We live between the two great silences: the silence that existed before the world began, and the silence that waits for us at the end of all things.” It has been a while since I was able to read a fantasy novel. I love the way how I am brought to a new world with it's myths, religion, traditions an...

This was another one of those blind library picks where I knew next to nothing about the book before picking it up, and what a wonderful read it turned out to be.The world Coakley introduces is full of magic both literally and figuratively. She manages to weave in so much rich lore and detail that y...

I enjoyed the plot, as well as the characters. But, I felt like something was missing. There were times when ...

Coakley is sure to draw her reader's in with fantastic world building, memorable character's, unique storytelling dymanics, and a mystical plot worth reading more than once. It possesses all the elements that will leave its audience clammor...

A nice after-the-war story, with an interesting world and conflict. I did wish that some of the minor characters had been more developed, but if there are more books to come (possibly hinted at but not necessary), that could change.

The story of Witchlanders was not what I was expecting, but I always enjoy a good fantasy novel. The idea that magic and music are connected I’ve only encountered it once before. But the way that Lena Coakley has worked it here was so enchanting. The echo sites and the different musical keys were pr...

One of the best books I have read in a long time. Inventive, unique, and extremely addictive, Coakley spent time cultivating every last detail in this beautiful fantasy world where the Witchlanders and the Baen are more than just rivals. They hate what they do not understand. Witchlanders is an enga...
