The mock Gothic is one of my very favorite types of books. This should have been perfect for me: a Yorkshire manor, suspicious goings-on, a cozy domestic mystery with delicious menus. The failing here is entirely my own. I think the book was too light for my own mood. Copy loaned by beloved MIL
