Wonderland Avenue is the careening autobiography of someone who willfully, skillfully, and enthusiastically abused all the cards that life dealt. At the age of thirteen, Danny Sugarman, already the wayward product of Beverly Hills wealth and privilege, went to his first Doors concert. He never looked back. He was to become the protégé of singer Jim Morrison and, still in his teens, manager first of the Doors and then of Iggy Pop. He also plunged gleefully into the glamorous underworld of rock and roll, diving headfirst into booze, sex and drugs. By the age of 21, he had an expensive home, the best car in the world, two types of hepatitis, a diseased heart, a $500-a-day heroin habit, and only a week to live. He lived. Wonderland Avenue is his story.
