Anthology. I'm kind of (90%) over vampire books but there are a few authors that I love so I'm going to pick and choose what I want to read. I don't usually do this and try to give every story a try but like I said, I'm kind of done with vampires.I only read a few of the stories and I think overall ...

I received a copy from Netgalley. This particular author is one of my favourites of dark and bizarre fiction. Most of the time I love her work, there are the odd ones that I really don’t like or get at all. This collection of short stories has been on my radar since I heard about it. I was thrille...

Below, I mention how I liked each story and include a favorite quote: The Empty Chambers by Neil Gaiman A poem. Very creepy but I’d rather have read a Gaiman story. The Company You Keep by Steve Resnic Tem Walking among us are the members of a secret company. I don’t know what I took away from t...

... which is not a word I would use for what's inside. This is not to be read in one sitting. For the most part, the tales in this collection are upsetting, full of triggers, dark, squicky or all of the above, with some beauty thrown in for flavor. A rich story of Lovecraftian dread mixed with post X-files paranoia. Recommended.

If I had made the Slaughterhouse Five/Billy Pilgrim connection, I would probably have ran screaming in the oth...

I received the ARC from Netgalley. Thanks, Netgalley! I guess this averages out to 3.5? I'm too tired to do the math so a 3 it is. Holy crap this book took half my life to read. It says it was only 432 pages long but I Do NOT Believe It. There are sooo many stories. Too many stories. No one need...

Aliens: Recent Encounters is a decent collection of stories, most dealing with the consequences of encounters between humans and aliens [duh]. I picked it off the new-book shelf at one of my libraries because I saw that it contained works from some of my favorites - Ursula K. Le Guin, Caitlín R. Kie...

I wanted to like this steampunky-themed book of short-stories, but it tried too hard at cleverness and told essentially uninteresting stories. The text does not deliver on what the fascinating illustrations promise. I gave it 78 pages, 18 beyond my minimum 50, and gave it up.
