Having enjoyed the first and third of the "Myriad Universe" collections of Star Trek novellas set in alternate universes, I looked forward to reading the middle one. When it arrived, I dug in and wasn't disappointed by the stories inside, all of which involve major reimaginings of the Trek universes...
There are very, very minor complaints: the art, while mostly gorgeous, made some character looks like bobble heads at some points. Furthermore there were a couple of pages of what felt like strained exposition at one point. Given how perfect the rest of this storyline is, fitting into what littl...
I was mostly unfamiliar with Andorians except beyond knowing they were blue, hairy, and had antennae. The Chimes at Midnight by Geoff Trowbridge gave a most thorough background into this alien race. The reader follows two separate characters: Thelin (an Andorian) and David Marcus (James T. Kirk's es...
With the zombie horde pretty much taken care of, things should be settling down in Eugene but a larger threat is looming. Xitalu is coming though the dimensions to earth and his plan is to devour everything in his path, leaving the earth empty and devoid of life. Gwen quickly finds herself surround...
The veil in Eugene is thinner than anyplace else in the world. That allows creatures from other worlds and dimensions to slip through. These creatures can be accessed by those who seek power. Amon knows that things are coming to a head but thus far he has been unable to convince Gwen that she has ...
Gwendolyn is still very much dealing with how to survive as a zombie. In order to ensure that she retains her memories, Gwendolyn must consume a brain a month. For some reason however bodies are being stolen from the morgue leaving poor Gwen hungry. This is a problem because unless Gwen feeds regu...
Gwen Dylan isn't what one would normally think of when zombies come to mind. She holds down a job, sure, it's as a gravedigger but how else is she supposed to get access to brains? The brains taste awful but eating them is a small price to pay once a month to hold onto who she is and to keep her m...
This was sort of "eh" for me. I read this one to see if I wanted to keep on with the series, but I don't think it grabbed me enough. There are other series that are much better that I want to read or continue reading. I think I'll just stick to watching the show for this one.
Very, very different than the TV show. I'm interested to see if the show is a pseudo continuation of the end of this series... we'll see.Her name is different. Her job is different. There's other supernatural stuff going on (ie vampires, ghosts, ware-terriers).We'll see.... I'll start the next one soo...
Outstanding collection of short stories by various Black Library authors on the grim stories of the Space Marines. And They Shall Know No Fear...is the standout in this collection. Recommended for any WH40K fan.....
