If there are few YA books with black, Hispanic or Asian protagonists, and even fewer with gay protagonists, the disabled barely make an appearance. I don't mean Nora-I'm-aenemic-so-that's-why-I'm-pale Gray, or Dice-my-psychic-powers-were-diagnosed-as-rare-epilepsy. I mean people who have actually lo...

I gobbled this up quickly, too quickly. I loved this for the same reason I love Sarah Dessen: it's about young people, with complicated backstories, who are trying to make their lives just a little bit better. Aurora is trying to recapture the fun of life that she's missed in the long years of he...

A book I never would have picked up for myself just based on the cover alone, but a really amazing story about how not everyone is really what they seem and that it is okay to give someone a chance even if they are different.

I'm not sure why this is getting such rave reviews. It was ok as far as books go. I definitely thought the ending was abrupt. I was hoping it was going to be more like Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles, which I loved, but it wasn't nearly as great. I don't know, the whole premise of Lucius and...

Giving your main character hooks for hands is a dirty trick. It made me hold out hope for this damn book until the end but it was hopless.Terrible and slow and amateurish and......fucking hook hands! I fall for it every time!

Loved the book. Needed a better ending. All in all I enjoyed it.

Crazy Beautiful has one of the most interesting twists on the tale of Beauty and the Beast that I have ever read. And to be honest, if I did not know that this was suppose to be a retelling, I would have never made the connection between the two tales. The novel was very well paced, and highly creat...

Another book I wasn't thrilled with. It was a pretty straight forward love story. Boy who blew up his parents' house and lost his hands and is seen as a freak, girl whose mother just died and who is popular and pretty. The story is told in alternating POV, his/hers...it just wasn't special.

Crazy Beautiful is a story told in alternation chapters between Lucius and Aurora who in each of their own ways are damaged from their past. Two teens drawn to each other on their first day at a new school. As this is a new telling of a Beauty and the Beast story we learn early on in the book that L...
A Rep Reading

A very hip retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story that will appeal to teens. It is a crisp, lively exploration of what it is to be an outsider, and how to find one's way in a challenging world.
