This is a review of the first five comics in Volume 1. This beautifully illustrated fantasy series deals with Maestros, the magic-wielding rulers of another world linked to our Earth. There’s a good deal of plotting and betrayal with unexpected flashbacks. It’s a lot of fun and the characters are ...

This is apparently a reboot, but I couldn't tell. This integrated the old story so well that I didn't feel lost at all. Rathraq is back. God, scarecrow thing, something new? I'm not quite sure what he is, or if he's as good as he was before, but I'm very interested in finding out now!

When a banished son's family is killed, he's brought back to his home planet to rule. After all, his family was the Maestro, a wizard, a ruler, and a living god. (Which didn't stop him from being killed. And his family from being killed.) A little sadder, but funny. Not quite enough to giv...

He's rich, he has a butler, and he adores Bruce Wayne. It also gets progressively creepier as the story gets going, and is a standalone. Lovely art, lovely story, but this is my protest against DCs erasure of the LGBTQ community as they allow another straight marriage, but not gay marriage at al...

And the saga goes on. (And on.) I read most of this while viewing season six of the show on DVD (just finished disc 2). No spoilers for season seven, please--I don't have cable, so I am always a season behind (at the very least). It's interesting watching characters who have been around in the b...

When we last left the survivors they had discovered how the Alpha of the Whispers decided to mark the boundary. Not so long ago, an over confidant and certainly younger Rick would have seen this as a call for war and ridden out for battle, no matter who tried to talk sense to him. Rick's impulsive...

The Hiketeia presents Wonder Woman with a seemingly unsolvable problem, at least within her personal context. This is a graphic novel from 2002, but in case you have not read it spoilers follow. Batman pursues a young woman wanted for murdering four men. The woman escapes to Wonder Woman's embassy...

I admit, when I first started Starve I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it. The premise captured my attention, but the art wasn't something I was sold on. Until, that is, I started diving deeper into the story. Suddenly, the way that Gavin and his gritty world were drawn made perfect sense. By the time I reach...

Okay.
