Diana Taylor Hart is the author of the Old Pueblo Series, a collection of mystery novels laced with suspense and romance that also carries an underlying message of hope for our time. A former elementary school teacher in southern Arizona's barrios, she loved working with children and their families who, in turn, taught her lessons in humility that made her a better teacher, mother and wife. Devastated after the death of a beloved family member, she began to write in order to deal with her grief. Moving On became the inspiration for her first book in the series. The story is set in southern Arizona with people who come alive on each page. The main character is Samantha (Sam) Cabot Samuels. She is a 27-year-old first time elementary school principal in the barrio. She is feisty and, yet, fragile after the loss of her 5-year-old daughter to leukemia. With that in mind, Hart began addressing issues that impact young lives, generated excitement about learning, and prompted students to think. KIRKUS REVIEW: "This intense, fast-moving drama is gripping and compelling to the last page, and readers will likely admire Samantha's idealism and strength. Throughout, Samantha shows a fierce determination to help her students and an irrepressible fighting spirit as she battles her own past. Overall, the unraveling mystery, set against the backdrop of a failing elementary school, is a poignant read. A tightly written, suspenseful mystery."Sam is at the helm in the second book in the series, Going Home. She has been summoned to her estranged grandparents' estate in Mexico. After a vicious confrontation with her resentful grandparents, she receives an urgent message from the school psychologist regarding a distressed kindergartner. Alarmed, she needs answers to protect this child - fast - before it's too late. With the help of her new husband and the sheriff, Sam begins to unravel the web of intrigue around this frightened little girl and also her big sister. This compelling story comes alive through believable characters in life's situations, leaving you wondering what will happen next. The fast-moving drama takes Sam down a heart-stopping pathway lined with horrifying secrets and spine-tingling danger that hits too close to home.
