Maris Wicks lives in sunny Somerville, Massachusetts. She has harnessed the power of her various biological systems to write, draw and color comics for Adhouse Books, Tugboat Press, Spongebob Comics, Image, Marvel and DC, as well as the New England Aquarium and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Wicks is the illustrator of New York Times Bestselling Primates, with Jim Ottaviani. When she is not drawing comics, Maris can be found prepping slides for her collection of vintage microscopes...or baking cookies. Coincidentally, she's especially proud of her digestive system. Human Body Theater is her latest graphic novel.

With such a short book and no...

The narrator is a sassy yellow goby fish who explains the facts about coral reefs and their inhabitants. There is a wealth of information in this book, an...

The structure made it a little dry for a kid's comic. Wicks' love and appreciation for marine life come through and the illustrations are clean and vibrant, I just wish there were more of a storyline and less of a lecture from a goby.
