Preface: Some of you will read this review and wonder why I gave it such a high score when I had such a big problem with a certain aspect of the storyline. Those of you who feel confused by my rating should know that, yes, this book is terrific. It transported me to another time and place. For me, i...

I am utterly speechless. I can't write a review that will do justice to this novel that wrecked me in the best kind of way. Let me just say two things: 1.) Stephen King is dangerously close to being dethroned as my favorite author. 2.) Read this book. Now.

Maybe light on the horror, but heavy with colorful characterizations of small town life in the 60's and how innocence can be lost very quickly and then somehow found again. Solid 4.5 Stars and Highly Recommended.

It’s the summer of 1960 and in the small town of Elm Haven, Illinois, five twelve-year-old boys are forging the powerful bonds that a lifetime of change will not break. At the time, it didn't have the same effect on...

Stephen King blurbs on the cover that he is in awe of Dan Simmons. I concur. Simmons resurrects all your childhood fears and confirms their validity. Their IS something under the bed, its pissed, and you have every reason to be very afraid.

Incredible book. Simmon's attention to detail was amazing and kept me riveted although the same detail bored and overwhelmed me in his previous that I have read. This is another coming of age story for a band of pre-teens. Other authors relay this tale in a more normal world, Simmons manages to t...

Okay, this started out REALLLLLLLLY slow for me. Rating this a 3.75...There were times, multiple times, that I wanted to just return it to the library and move on to something else. And I DON'T stop reading books, even when they are bad, so that tells you something. But I am glad that stayed with t...
