The Autumnlands Tooth and Claw Volume 1
The Autumnlands Volume 1: Tooth and Claw - Benjamin Dewey,Jordie Bellaire,Kurt Busiek

5 Stars, buy it.

I've read up to issue 6 previously but need a refresher before going back to where I left off.  I still love the story and characters (except for the bad guys of course) and I still love the art.  I remember this from when I initially read the first 6 issues that I don’t like the long paragraphs that they stick on with the book covers. I’m not really sure what the book covers are supposed to be, maybe magical texts of theirs? The Autumnlands is highly original and should be read by anyone who likes comics. In anycase, for anyone who loves animals, in particular talking animals, I highly recommend this series.

My general Notes: The first issue you meet Dusty, Gharta and Sandhorst. Gharta tries a spell which is forbidden and she destroys the city but produces a champion. In issue two, the survivors are attacked by a bison herd. At that moment he champion is freed and to everyone's horror he's not an animal.in issue 3 we meet Goodfoot and Affa. Goodfoot shows her true colors and so does councilor Sandhorst. Issue four- Dusty, who is also the narrator goes out scouting with the champion while Goodfoot and Councilor Sandorst are up to no good.  In Issue 5 Dusty and some others go on a secret mission for the Champion. Anxiety skyrockets for me when Councillor Sandhorsts arrests Gharta and Affa. Affa and Gartha seem to have a relationship of some sort going on. The plots continue to thicken. In Issue 6:  The parley happens and Gharta is finally freed.  However we loose someone and I won’t spoil it for you.  The asshole Councillor Sandhorst comes out looking the hero.

List of characters for my reference.

Bhord- Pug dog who is grey

Councillor Sandorst- is the owl

Dunstan/Dusty- White dog/terrier

Gharta- is the warthog

Goodfoot- fox/coyote

Gutruk- walrus I think

Leahroyd- the champion (and only human)

Affa- Giraffe

Rat Queens Vol. 2
Rat Queens Vol. 2: The Far Reaching Tentacles of N'Rygoth - Kurtis J. Wiebe

5 Stars, Buy it

Overall, extremely good.  This was all a reread for me to get back into the story line. Art fantastic, story fantastic. Great comic series you really need to read. But you must like cussing, nudity and violence.

Chapter or issue 6 definitely has some plot twists. No really funny lines in this issue but the writing is still wonderful. We learn more about Dee. Issue 7: We find more out about Dee who up to this point has been pretty mysterious.  As of this point Sawyer is still alive but getting torchured. There is nudity and cursing as per usual.  Issue 8: In which we finally get to see Violet’s beard. Most of this issue is a flashback, but we learn more about Violet. Issue 9:Hannas has a flashback to her mother like Violet’s flashback included her mother. Part of this issue was confusing, though it was on purpose. Everyone rallies to rescue Sawyer.  Issue 10: This issue starts with a flashback to Hannah’s university days when she meets Tizzie who is part of another mercenary band. More fighting to rescue Sawyer and more flashbacks.  Of course everything ends happily but then at the very end there is a bit of cliffhanger.

Coming back to reading has given me an excuse to reread my favorites. This is just as awesome as volume 1.

Cleopatra in Space #3
Secret of the Time Tablets (Cleopatra in Space #3) - Mike Maihack

It starts a bit oddly like dropping you in the middle of the story. Turns out it's a dream. It's hard to have been away from reviewing books for a year.Ive forgotten series I knew so well. This one I couldn't remember where I had left off. I of course love the talking cat still. I love that Cleopatra is a strong young female character. I love how she sneaks in a rug to the city- a reference to how she sneaks in to Mark Anthony's room. Or was it Caesar? I love the artwork, it's very consistent. I love all the aliens artwork. The art and overall concept gets 5 stars.

The story I'm not so sure about it. I find it confusing but it could be because it's been so long since I've read it. I could have used a refresher. The story does have a dark side which I wasn't expecting. And this issue definitely furthered things along. However it was still confusing so I give the story 3 stars. I'll give the issue 4 stars. When the next issue comes out I'll have to go back and reread them all.

Oddly Normal #10
ODDLY NORMAL #10 CVR A FRAMPTON & BAILY - Cool Image

4.5 Stars, Buy it

Self Purchase, Comixology

Finally getting back to reviewing some comics on my lunch break.  We were slammed at work for a few weeks so I didn’t have much time. I’m finally recovered.

Love the school bug. I adore the little critter that follows Oddly around (See issue 9).  I still love the art work and color. I like how they talk about comic books.   Basically in this issue Oddly goes to school and attends her first sporting event. Over all, sweet and fun. But in the back of the issue is bad news. This is the last individual issue of Oddly Normal. It apparently does better in book format. Good news is, the individual chapters should still be coming out digitally, which is how I read them. So, I’m keeping my fingers crossed I’ll still be able to get this through Comixology.

Description (Comixology): Oddly encounters real, live superheroes.
