Review of Dark Moon Rising By James M Thompson
Dark Moon Rising - James M. Thompson

I’ll start off by saying the ideas and imagination gone into the plot of this book is incredibly creative. But the book could have been so much better.

The part I did love about the story was how creative the whole idea was. Instead of it being the classic bitten by a werewolf or animal horror, James M Thompson has taken on a completely different approach and gone with a mixture psychopathic surgeons and power greedy military generals that’s created a gripping story.

I found myself being fascinated by the enhanced soldiers, particularly the sergeant Jack Stone. He had been operated on my Dr Stern making him stronger, faster and his senses more animal like. He was extremely arrogant but that made me like him more, I also liked the fact he was a mysterious character in the beginning but he becomes more confident as the story goes on. At the beginning I found the main character Jim Wilcox to be annoying but after the operation it’s hard not to like him. You also can’t deny how cool the guy is after surgery!

One of the problems I had with book was the amount of sex. The first 30% of the book was nonstop sex. It got to the point where I honestly thought the story was going nowhere and was starting to sound like fifty shades of grey. But I would recommend readers stick with it because it does start to pick up in the last quarter and becomes the fast paced horror/thriller that was described and originally drew me in.

Overall I wasn’t crazy about this book but I did enjoy it towards the end. The book could have been so much better if it got straight into the thriller/horror side of it from the start and left most of the unnecessary romance bullshit out. For readers that enjoy science/medical horror with a combo of fantasy this book is a good read

Better than the movie
Transformers: Dark of the Moon: Rising Storm TP (Transformers (Idw)) - Carlos Magno

This is a Dark of the Moon prequel, and it's far superior to the movie.   There aren't any gaping plotholes like what Sentinel Prime did at the end of DotM.   It also gave me a lot that I liked.

A Barricade versus Bumblebee scene.   More insight into Arcee, Elita-One and Chromia.   More about where and how Shockwave and Soundwave fit into the Bayverse.   Soundwave calling his droned his 'menagerie.'  Wheeljack and more insight into him.   It made me much happier than any of the other Bayverse movies have.

On the other hand, the art was pretty bad.   Both the bots and the humans didn't look like they did in the movies.   And no matter how good these get, I'll always end up comparing them to Robots in Disguise and More Than Meets the Eye, especially since they're all put out by IDW.   And even the best - so far - of the Bayverse comics fall short of the current flagship titles.

Bee Vs. Cade
Transformers: Dark of the Moon: Rising Storm TP (Transformers (Idw)) - Carlos Magno

I wanna write some Bee/Cade non-con porn now.  This is what putting them in the same comic does now, especially when they're trying to beat each other down.

Starting this...
Transformers: Dark of the Moon: Rising Storm TP (Transformers (Idw)) - Carlos Magno

Today has called for it.   Stopped by the Apple store, and my phone is less than a year old.   Can't decide what I'm going to do - replace screen, keep it this way, so I'm drowning out that slight worry with Transformers comics.

Review 5*****

This is the third book in the Vampires Realm Series. I absolutely loved it!

Prophecy is a fantastic character. She is a very headstrong and determined young woman. Not only is she a vampire, she is a powerful witch, and now the head of the Caelestis vampire family. I really liked this character. She makes mistakes, and learns from them, but it's the relationship between the two men in her life and herself that complicates an already complicated situation!

Valentine is also a fantastic character. He is very charismatic and, although he can be a bit intense, he clearly loves Prophecy. He too is now the head of his Aurorea family. Trying to unite the two vampire families against a common foe is harder than he had anticipated. However, Venturi is getting on his last nerve!

Venturi is an interesting character. He is quite the charmer, but can be lethal when required. The Tenebrae have a reputation of being fierce warriors, and Venturi is most certainly a formidable one. I liked him very much, even though he has fallen in love with Prophecy too!

This story continues on from the end of the second book, and see's the trio trying to track down the rest of the prophecy that foretells what Prophecy's role would be - destroyer or savior - in a war against a formidable foe. This book is a roller coaster ride of action, adventure, danger and romance. I was quickly swept up in the tale and struggled to put the book down! The story is told from three points of view: Prophecy, Valentine and Venturi, which gives the reader the opportunity to see their thoughts and feelings. There are a few twists and turns in this tale that kept me guessing as to what would happen next. However, there is a battle scene that was so well described that I felt like I was actually there - it was EPIC! As I have said in my review of the previous book in the series, I am not fond of love triangles. However, the ending has a slight twist that made me snigger, and made me want to read the next book in the series, Spellbound, as soon as I can!

I am a huge fan of Felicity Heaton's books. I love her fast paced writing style, which flows beautifully, and the way her characters come to life on the page. Her attention to detail sparks my imagination, and that is why I love her work so much. I will keep reading her books for as long as she keeps writing them, and beyond. She is number one on my favourite authors list.

There are a few steamy scenes that, although not too explicit, are extremely hot! Therefore, I do not recommend this book for younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love paranormal romances with an excellent story, combined with sexy vampires, werewolves and witches. - Lynn Worton
