Under the Songbird’s Wing by mia6363
Under the Songbird’s Wing - mia6363
A heartbreaking fanfic in which sixteen year old Stiles finds himself held captive along with three alpha werewolves. Some typos.

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen
Stolen Songbird - Danielle L. Jensen

The main character Cecile plans to move to her mother's place in the city and become a singer. The day before leaving, she is kidnapped and brought to the city of trolls. The trolls have been cursed for centuries - they can't leave their city and believe that Cecile will break the curse. She has to marry the troll prince Tristan and live among trolls. The girl thinks about escaping, but with time her feelings change.
I loved the world building. The trolls were amazing, creepy, and scary. They couldn't lie but twisted the truth and manipulated people. They were also very strong, clever, had magic and their city blew my mind. I actually liked some troll characters and really hated the others.
The book was long but at times I felt that the story had gaps which needed filling. One moment Cecile hated trolls and the other moment she already had friends and was ready to take risks to help them. The romance felt a bit rushed and I wanted more about Tristan's point of view.
Still, I liked how Cecile, who had all these big plans at the beginning of the story, started to discover who she really was and the things she was capable at the end of the story were astonishing. Also I liked the last sentence so much I want to read the second book soon.

Review: THE SILENT SONGBIRD
The Silent Songbird - Melanie Dickerson

The Silent Songbird is a story about a heroine that wants to something all people want. It takes place in either 1700 or 1800 England. It mostly about the King’s warden. Will she find what wants in life? She knows her duty, but she does not want to marry someone she does not love.

Evangeline knows her cousin goes to set up a marriage to an Earl? She tries to tell her cousin she doesn't want to marry this man. She is forced to run away. This is where all twists and turns and surprises start to occur. She meets a man and asks to go along with him and his men. She also has her friend with her as well. I believe this is where she starts to learn about herself and learns about the world around her.

The author does a good job showing us what it likes for women in that era. We learn of what Lord Shivery is like and how he is. You will be surprised at how and what this man did to his first wife. The author does wonders with her characters. You can see how deep she makes them. You are pulled into the era of that time and you feel like you are a part of that world.

The Silent Songbird Book Review
The Silent Songbird - Melanie Dickerson

This is my first Melanie Dickerson book and I really want to read more by her. I don't read a lot of historical fiction but this in all honesty felt more like a romance that happened to take place years ago. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. Not once was I bored and it took me about three hours to read.

Evangaline has been set to marry a cruel man thanks to King Richard. Instead of doing what he wants she decides to run away. When she's successful she ends in a village with a boy named Westley le Wyse. Problem is, she's pretending to be someone else and a mute. They have no idea just how important of a person she really is.

So I do feel a bit bad because I didn't even realize this was a retelling of the little mermaid until reading other reviews (oops) but that didn't deter me from liking the book. I guess I just didn't spot the similarities and without knowing ahead of reading had no idea to look out for them. Other than that its a fun read!

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Hole Hearted (Songbird #9) by Melissa Pearl
Hole Hearted (A Songbird Novel) - Melissa Pearl
Hole Hearted is the latest fantastic addition to the Songbird series, and features Felix, Troy, and Cassie. Felix and Cassie are nephew and aunt who didn't know each other existed until it became obvious that Felix's mum wasn't going to survive her battle with cancer. Troy is a counsellor who wants to help this pair professionally, but also on a personal note.

I won't go into the story itself, except to say that it is exceptionally written, will have you crying if you're anything like me, and will tug at your heartstrings throughout. With a smooth, flowing story, there were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. In fact, the only thing that disrupted me was either my tears, or when I had to listen to the music that was mentioned! This playlist was right up my alley, and I loved every song!!

An absolutely amazing addition to the Songbird series, and I really can't recommend this book or the series highly enough.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *
