Things About Sundar Pichai And Why You Should Change Your Role Model!

Sundar Pichai Quotes. Things About Sundar Pichai And Why You Should Change Your Role Model!

Sundar Pichai, in full name Pichai Sundararajan, (born July 12, 1972, Madras [now Chennai], Tamil Nadu, India), Indian-born American computer scientist and executive who had been CEO of both Google, Inc. (2015-- ), and its holding company, Alphabet Inc. (2019-- ).

For a boy growing up in Madras, Pichai use to sleep in the living room of the cramped family home, but his father, an electrical engineer at the multinational GEC, ensured that the boys received a good education.  In a young age Pichai exhibited an interest in engineering and an outstanding memory, particularly for phone numbers.  ,sundar pichai

After getting a degree in metallurgy (B.Tech., 1993) and a silver medal in the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, he was given a scholarship to study at Stanford University (M.S. in technology and materials science, 1995).   He remained in the United States thereafter, working briefly for Applied Materials (a provider of semiconductor materials) and then making an M.B.A. (2002) in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Following a short stint at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co., Pichai joined Google in 2004 as the head of product management and growth.  He originally worked on the Google Toolbar, which enabled those utilizing the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Internet browsers to easily get into the Google search engine.

During the upcoming few decades, he had been directly involved in the growth of Google's own browser, Chrome, which premiered to the public in 2008.

That same year Pichai was appointed vice president of product development, and he started to have a more-active public function.  From 2012 he was a senior vice president and two years later he was made merchandise chief over both Google and the Android smartphone operating system.

Back in 2011 Pichai allegedly was aggressively pursued for employment by microblogging support Twitter, also in 2014 he had been touted as a potential CEO for Microsoft, but in both cases he had been allowed big financial packages to remain with Google.

He also was known to have helped negotiate Google's $3.2 billion deal to acquire Nest Labs in 2014.

Consequently, when Google cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin announced the creation of Alphabet Inc., in August 2015, it came as no surprise to industry insiders that Pichai was appointed CEO of Google, which was reorganized as a subsidiary.  In December 2019 he was named CEO of Alphabet, substituting  Larry Page, who resigned.

A wonderful discovery in the form of a web novel
Mr. Tycoon's Daring Wife - Xincerely

If you love a good love story, with a dark past and plenty of hardships to overcome and a thoroughly satisfying ending then this one is a must.

What happens when you live through a horrific trauma? It changes you. There is no other way. You either succumb and die or you get stronger and you live, but you are a different you. And that is what our strong heroine is, she is a changed person who changed for the better, for the stronger and for the smarter. And she kicks as$ (quite literally).

Zhao Lifei has never had a good emotional upbringing but she was raised in wealth and that is what made her conceited and arrogant. When she survived something terrible and managed to work through her trauma and her mistakes, she was built up as a new, improved version of herself. With this still struggling version of herself she meets her destiny in the form of an amazingly hunky and dangerous CEO Yang Feng, oh and by the way, he also rules the shady part of town. When they meet they grow as people - into people whom they are then proud to present to the world. All of that happens with a world of suffering, torture, deaths, humiliation, struggle, kidnappings, resolving their pasts etc. It is a struggle worth going through because it is written in a very compelling and smart way with a dark undertone.

The characters are flawed, as well as they should be. I hate characters that are cookie cutter characters lacking any realism. These characters are flawed, yes.

Zhao Lifei is too stubborn, bottles up her feelings, builds walls around herself and projects things from her past into current situations.

Yang Feng is a bit obsessive and possessive and stubborn as all hell when it comes to things and people he loves.

They both have a dark past and are dealing with their demons. What matters is that they grow, they mature, they lessen their bad characteristics as they spend more time with each other. They help each other. I see plenty of reviews saying the male lead character is too possessive, he is like this and like that but what they fail to mention is that his first thought is like that yes, but then he is actually much more considerate in his actions albeit still a bit too possessive and then he gets burned by our kickas$ female lead and he learns, and he adapts and he realises he can do better and he does. Isn't that the point? Going through hardships and misunderstandings to actually accomplish something, realise something, grow and mature? I certainly think it is.

The storyline is great, the plot keeps getting more and more complicated and the mystery is compelling and you just want to keep reading and discovering and enjoying the process of getting to that sweet wonderful ending.

The characters are wonderful, flawed and full of battle scars and you care for them every step of the way.

The pacing is also done well, there weren't any long scenes that you'd feel like you wanted to skip or that you'd look later at and say that was completely unnecessary. It all has a meaning, gives clues and ties the loose ends in the end.

One thing that I found quite amusing was the ending itself and no, I won't spoil it. I'll just say that it has more endings than The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King XD I kept thinking my goodness, that is amazing, ah this was so good, so that is how it ends and then you turn another chapter and then there is more, and then another and another and another and in the end I might as well say that no stone was left unturned, everyone's story had a proper ending and kudos to the writer for managing it. Well done.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and a journey I'd sign myself up for at any time.

The Prisoner's Wife by Maggie Brookes
The Prisoner's Wife - Maggie Brooks

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I thought that this book was really well done. I enjoy historical fiction every once in a while and stories set during World War II really appeal to me. I am always on the lookout for something a little different and the premise of this story grabbed me right away. I love the fact that this book is based on a true story and was eager to see how a woman was able to hide within a PoW camp. Once I picked up this book, I was hooked right away and didn't want to put the book down. I am so glad that I decided to give this book a try.

At the start of this story, Izzy is a farm girl in Czechoslovakia and Bill is a prisoner at a work camp that has been assigned to assist at her family farm. They are drawn to each other from the very beginning and fall in love in moments when they are able to steal a bit of time together away from everyone else. They marry and escape only to be captured a short time later. This is when things start getting very dangerous for both Izzy and Bill.

I felt for Izzy and Bill from the start. They both just wanted to be together but a war that they could not control had the potential to take everything from them. I tried to imagine what it must have been like for Izzy to live in fear of being discovered and how difficult it must have been to hide her gender in the living conditions within the camp. Bill was in constant fear for Izzy and was willing to do whatever it took to protect her.

This was a really powerful story. The descriptions in this book were very well done and I was able to form a mental image of what the conditions in the camp were Bill, Izzy, and the others that were in on their secret. Everything from their constant state of hunger to the physical pain was vividly described. I felt like I was there with them as they fought to take another step and leaned on each other for support.

I would recommend this book to fans of historical fiction. I thought that this was a very well done and powerful story. I will admit that I would have loved to see a little bit about what happened to each of the characters after the story ended but I realize that most of the people being released from these camps would never know the fate of those they had come in contact with during their incarceration. I would not hesitate to read more of this author's work in the future.

I received an advanced review copy of this book from Penguin Publishing Group - Berkley.

So far from the Modern Wife - or is it?
Recipe for a Perfect Wife - Karma Brown

Two timelines for two wives. One is Nellie Murdoch, the "perfect" housewife of the 1950s, and the other is Alice Hale, a "modern" woman.  When Alice and her fiancee buy and move into Nellie's old house, she discovers Nellie's recipe book stuffed with handwritten notes and recipes. As Alice reads the book and learns more about Nellie, she discovers just how different (or similar) their lives are.

I enjoyed this comparison between the lives of the 1950s and modern 'housewife'/stay at home woman. The dual narrative was very effective and the plot unfolded quickly. Perhaps somewhat predictable, but I thought it was an enticing enough story for a quick read.

It is the first book by this author that I have read and I'm enticed to try another.
