I've been reading a lot of historical novels lately, and I quite enjoyed this one. While it has the familiar backdrop of Tudor England, with all the drama and heartbreak and beheadings you'd expect, the addition of an original character as the narrator gives the story new life. It took me a while to read this novel and even longer to really get into it. Overall though I enjoyed the story and am still a huge fan of Philippa Gregory. :)

It's only in the last quarter of the book or so that Hannah actually gets her own storyline. And the storyline goes like ...

While the main character was fairly interesting, Ms. Gregory's tendency to cherry-pick her historical details is annoying.

Absolutely, in my opinion, the best Philippa Gregory book out there. This story was FANTASTIC! It was incredibly fast paced and enthralling to follow the "story" of the main character.

I liked this book. Not as much as some of the others by Ms. Gregory, but it was a good read.
