Starts off hard and becomes kind by the end as the lead character finds redemption in the life that has been handed to him partly because of his own weakness.

I really loved this book. The narrative voice was dry, funny, bemused. Exposition was non-existent and I loved following Helmer as he worked on becoming more than half.
