No 17 was one of the first trams to be delivered to Paisley and District Tramways under the ownership of William Martin Murphy and Irish businessman and newspaper man. Both he and No17 have interwoven histories during the early part of the 20th Century. This includes The Scottish Antartic Expedition, Sir Ernest Shackleton,World War One and through to the purchase of Paisley and District Tramways by Glasgow Corporation in 1923. Under Glasgow's ownership N017 became 1017 and was used exclusively as a School Car for training tramdrivers. Whe she was retired she was sold, in part to begin a new life as a summer house, slowly she fell into disrepair. Volunteers salvaged her and restored her. This is also in the book
