This novel was both very charming and very refreshing; it's a delight to read. It's not a great work of literature, but it excels at what it is: escapism. Pure fantasy, or perhaps pure day dreams come true; after all, who hasn't wished to backpack across Europe with no ties and be responsible for no...

I liked this little YA read. It was quite refreshing in the midst of some other heavier books I am reading.17 year old Ginny gets a letter from her late aunt. Aunt Peg was always a little crazy, but nothing could be crazier than the packet of 13 letters and the "wild goose chase" of sorts that it ...

The first thing that popped into my head when I read the summary was: this is the teen version of P.S. I Love You. Which is not a bad thing, because I enjoyed that book. After Ginny's aunt dies, Ginny receives 13 little blue envelopes. These envelopes contain instructions that'll send her across Eur...

Led by letters from her aunt, a girl from New Jersey sets off with a backpack and travels around Europe. If at all possible, I think everyone should have an eccentric adult in their lives. It's very similar to Cornelia and the Audacious Escapades of the Somerset Sisters only our heroine is now old...

If I'm perfectly honest, I'll admit that I'm not really a Maureen Johnson fan. Her books tend to be a little repetitive and her characters don't always develop very well. She also has a habit of leaving waaaaay too many loose ends.

A highly enjoyable light read that borders on unbelievable. Johnson paints awesome scenarios, as well as lush descriptions of Europe. Like a photograph filled travel guide you want to dive right into the book, yearning to jump on the next plane and have your own experiences! Please read the full revi...

This was a really quick read for me. It was one of those books that you picked up, got sucked in and then put down because you were done with it. The fantasy of going on a trip like Ginny did in this book had me excited and ready to live vicariously through Ginny. I mean, it's the summer and you fin...

Not recommended: This book is an attempt to show teens how to deal with the death of a close family member and also how to live your dream. I say attempt because it is not very well executed. The main character is an innocent and naïve girl who has not had many experiences in her life. All of her re...

A really enjoyable backpacker's story - written by someone with obvious travel experience behind her - with very few drawbacks. What i.e. ticked me was the money issue: No way can you take planes and trains to and fro Europe's capital cities and pay stays in youth hostels for less than 1300 Pounds al...
