This is a really heart-wrenching story, but a fabulous read! Break out the tissues for this one!

I'm kind of conflicted on this story. Aside from some telling me it's true, and others telling me it isn't, the manner in which the mother treats Dave is a bit off. Being a survivor of child abuse myself, I know all about the random beatings, the "games", and the starvation methods. While my mother ...

I read this book in middle school and since then I don't think I've read another book that has completely broken my heart quite like this one.

If this story is true, it really terrifying to know that people can treat their child in this manner. My question is why did it start? What was the trigger? Did they go to prison for this??

Saw a used copy of this for sale in a thrift store, and the grubby, moth-ridden atmosphere seemed the perfect place to speed-read through this crazy book. I don't recommend it, unless you find yourself in the same situation.
