This was a book lent to me, and it was by a friend who didn't want it back as she was moving. I now see this as a handy way to get rid of a book! This book had me considering making a Sorry I Read This shelf. I can feel compassion and empathy for people who have suffered such things, but honestly I d...

I know there's a lot of controversy around this book, with some people not believing it really happened. But even with all that aside, it was well-written and compelling. I felt for this kid the entire time.

How to write a review on someone's horrendous childhood? I am sickened by what the author endured at the hands of his mother. His father not doing anything about it. The years that went by before someone finally said enough. He may be a grown man now, but I wish I could wrap my arms around him, ...

This is the only book I have ever read that has truly made me cry, tear up, and absolutely want to stop reading this book because I thought that nothing would get better.I read this in the sixth grade. It was recommended to me by my sixth grade Literature instructor to read it. She had a book shelf ...

This was just such a sad book and I cannot help but feel so much sympathy for Dave Pelzer for what he went through in his childhood :)

It's a short book and I finished it within 3 hours. I cried thought every pages. I don't know how a mother can treat her child as David's mom did. Once again, I am thankful for everything I have. I hugged and kissed my daughter a little longer tonight.

I've just read two different articles about Pelzer's work, and now my take is: I am glad I read this book, and I enjoyed it, but I'm not going to read the rest of them. Certain quotes disturbed me:But there is a creepier reason for Pelzermania. He has turned child abuse into entertainment. Pelzer li...

Dave's story is so horrific and sad that at times I felt guilty for questioning how true some of the events were. Nonetheless, I felt for him and admire his courage in moving forward with his life after so much adversity and trying to help others. It's a story that'll stick with me forever.

Everything about this book makes me thank God for the life I live. I know whatever I have experienced that I perceive as "bad" is a cake-walk relative to this guys childhood. Although I did enjoy the book, I feel that it end a little abruptly--I felt that there were so many unanswered questions. I g...
