Well, you can add me to the list of people who don't "get" this book. It didn't seem to have any point. While there were a few amusing moments (namely, Miss Trixie continually referring to Ignatius as Gloria and a few well-placed uses of the word "mongoloid"), mostly I was just bored reading this.

I just finished A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. Although the writing style was clever and witty with many humorous observations of people and society, I did not at all enjoy listening to this book. The "hero" of this book, Ignatius O'Reilly is conceited, selfish, and lazy - the epit...

Would never have been able to get through this if I had been reading the print version. The audio was funny, but still painful.

One of those uncommon books that made me sad as I got to the end: not because the story was upsetting, but because I was loath to leave it. Perhaps my favorite book ever.
